Professors Táíwò and Richardson awarded Public Voices Thought Leadership Fellowships

Africana Professors Riche Richardson and Olúfẹ́mi Táíwò have been selected to participate in Cornell University's 2017 Public Voices Thought Leadership Fellowship Program.

The goal of the program is to increase the public impact of top underrepresented thinkers in the US, and to ensure that their ideas help shape important conversations taking place in society. This happens through the creation of thought leadership pieces and training to increased interaction with influential forums, including traditional and new media. Fellows will undergo training and work closely with participating journalists.

The fellowships are an initiative of the OpEd Project, which aims to increase the range of voices and quality ideas in the world. The fellowships began at Cornell in 2014 through the Office of Faculty Development and Diversity. They last one year and are granted to up to 20 individuals at a time. In the previous cycle, Africana Professor Kevin Gaines participated as a fellow.
